In the News…

Representative Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin, Chair of the House Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, was joined by 12 other members of the committee in writing a letter to the U.S. Trade Representative and the Departments of Commerce and Homeland Security requesting an increase in tariffs on drones made in China. They also encouraged offering financial incentives to boost domestic drone manufacturing.

They stated that the tariffs would be intended to “stop the mass proliferation of a technology in the U.S. market that poses a clear national and economic security threat.”

Congressman Gallagher, who is stepping down from his office this month, further said in the letter that the current 25 percent tariff on Chinese-made drones is “insufficient to combat the surge” in imports.
